Tallis moves and photography evaluation
BTEC Media Evaluation
Unit 9: Photographic Techniques
My first ideas were taking pictures of the school and edit them with Photoshop. I felt worried because I did not know what talls moves was all about and the work
The Task is to create a series of images of the new school that represent an aspect of this vision. My pictures will have long angles , people and light in them . I will take my pictures on a ipad and the apps I use to help me are : Snapspeed and hipstamatic .
I felt worried and nervous about the old school but My feelings changed when we moved to the new school building , i felt calm , relaxed and confident when we moved to old school to new school . I wanted to leave the old school because in the old school there was not a lot of space to take pictures but i the new school there was a lot of space in the new building .
These images should b- e creative, communicating the excitement associated with learning In the new building.
- Express one or more aspects of the school’s new vision
- Be supplied in a digital format at a high enough resolution to be printed if necessary.
- Should stand out.
i feel nervous because I thought It will be difficult and too hard for me when the project started In september. Now I feel confident because now I know more information about the project .
I took lots of pictures of the style of black and white image and long corridors with light and people in them. I took pictures by moving myself so I could take the photographs from different angles to create more interesting images. For example I was on my knees on the floor to take a low angle long shot down the corridor of the support teacher Daniel. You can see this image below. I think doing this made the picture stand out, because he is almost in silhouette and the light at the end of the corridor around him looks really effective. The photo is divided into thirds really nicely with the light wells on the left, Daniel, my subject in the middle and the lockers on the right. This draws attention to the subject. Sometimes I also took images standing up as some parts parts of the school look great from that angle. For me taking the photos it was all about interesting and effective angles to produce effective images.
I took pictures of the building, people and tried to use light in them effectively. I used the ipad to take my pictures then I used two apps to take the photos and edit them. These apps are called Hipstamatic and Snapspeed. My ideas did not change from my plans because I started with the idea of light, people and buildings and that's what's in them, but thinking about it now I could have used Photoshop to edit the photos a little more than I did in the apps.
One of my pictures I did not use was a picture of all the helpers in speech and language. I did not choose it because it did not have an effective use of light, or a long angle of something like a corridor, or the link to attract the eye. In fact it looked horrible when I saw after I'd taken it. I think it was bad because I took it with a Dslr camera and at the time I wasn't really concentrating on getting a good angle, like a long angle shot, because I was trying to take it quickly before the staff moved as I took whilst they were working. That's why, although it's on this page for my evaluation I didn't use it as one of my final images.
I have learned to use different apps like Snapspeed Hipstamatic apps and how to edit my photos in photoshop you can use the vignette in photoshop to edit your photo. I have learned to use to change colour in photoshop like black , white and vintage colour. I have learned what the dark room is and where it is in the school and I learned about weebly to display my images. I learned how to use an ipad more and how It works. I also learned about one photographer called David Bailey and how to use flickr and put images on it. My final proposal is on the bottom right of this page. I chose the final images on it because I think they were the ones I edited most effectively and I really like the use of shadows on the walls and the concourse in the one on the left.
