Once I had received all the feedback, I realised that all the staff agreed that a promotional video would be a good idea. I then devised interview questions for the head of the unit, an LSA and a Speech and Language Therapist. Here is an example.
The next step was to film the interviews. I used an ipad to film. This was not very successful because the film was in portrait and the quality was not of a very high standard. Then i used a DLSR. This was also unsuccessful because the pictures were blurred and the subject was not centered. I realised that my skills with a DLSR was not very good. I spoke to my media teacher Mr Nicholls who agreed to give me some tuition. I was then able to film my interviews successfully using a tripod and a soft box.
One I had completed the films I was able to edit them and put them together using imovie. I am very pleased with my final product, it has everything i planned for it. The strengths of my FMP are: I met the deadline for it, it is clear and the pictures are sharp, It is well filmed, It gives all the information you need, and it has cool music. I think the only weakness of my film is that i should have interviewed a student as well, but this proved difficult because of exams and coursework commitments. I'm pleased with my documentary because it's a good length, the loud quality is good in the interviews and the voice over works well the images. I did the voice over myself because i felt as the filmmaker i should and I recorded it straight into i-movie over the footage as this was the most efficient way of doing it. My favourite interview is the one with the Head of Speech and Language, because she spoke clearly, answered all my questions really effectively, gave me nice long answers and made me laugh because she kept saying '' ummm'' and in interviews you're not supposed to. |
My initial idea was to make a silent movie of the day in life of the Thomas Tallis students. It was going to be a comedy like an old Charlie Chaplin film. I wanted to do it in a group with my friend Liam. However Liam had plans to do his project on his own, and we thought that it might be a bit boring and dull doing it on my own.
After some research, I realised that the Speech and Language Unit at my school needed a promotional video to make the rest of the school more aware of who they are and what they do. I spoke to the head of the unit, Ms Sobzak, who said it would be very useful. She said it could be used on the school website to inform parents. I started by emailing all the staff to find out what they thought needed to be on the video here is an excerpt from the survey I sent. |
