Claymation Experiment 1 I did a experiment with clay to try animation to see how good it is but it is not good doing animation with clay and my hand was in this animation video my other bad thing about this trial animation is that the animation i did was too fast and it do not show a story or storyline to make it exciting.

Claymation Experiment 2My second animation i did with clay was not very good at all because my hand was in every shot and it was quite dark and i did not enjoy doing animation with clay because it is not very flexible and could not really get the clay to move to different position. |
my first animation using flashI used flash for the first time last year i found it hard to use because their was lots of different technique. The good thing about this is you can get any pictures put them on flash exsamlpe google images of backgronds, head, body into flash and you can move everything around and change the postion of the head, body and the background like in my animation and you only need 25 frames at least to make it look nice and you can change the speed of the animation you are making in flash and one bad thing about this is that you can do it on flash was is very hard and if you do not want to do that you can do tracing that is my weaknesses.
This my animation i did with my lego people the storyline was about a prison escape. For this i had do get all the backgrounds of the internet, i had to get the right equipment like, camera, macbook and a lead to put it in my computer do get all of the pictures on iphoto then i had to put all my pictures of my animation on istopmotion to put them in order with music and a voice over of the characters then i had to upload it to youtube then i had to put it on my blog and website. |
This is my thaumatrope that i made in my media class, First i drew 3 different designs and choose the best one. I then started to make my thaumatrope. The features were simply and basic they have to be 2 halfs left- right, top - bottom and inside - a inside . This have very limited use but I enjoyed doing this project.Designs for my thaumatropeHere are my 3 design for my thaumatrope |
1. Research Evaluation - Animation Evaluation
I researched animation techniques, including stop motion, cut out, thaumatropes, rotoscoping and zoetropes. I learned a lot about animation, and that I am not good at tracing and drawing. For this reason I chose to use stop motion and cut out animation because I am very good at it. I learnt that animation takes a long time to make and there are lots of processes. My animation timeline gave me ideas to think about animation and what kind of animation I should choose. I watched a stop motion and cut out animation and it made me want to make one.
2. Evaluate your planning
I thought of three ideas; an animation about healthy eating, an animation of a nursery rhyme and a comedy film. I developed these ideas by researching into audience, cost, time it would take, and the strengths and weaknesses of each idea. I found that the Healthy Eating idea would be quite easy and fun to do. It would not cost much, but it might take a long time. It would be aimed at students and I'm not sure they would be very interested. The nursery rhyme idea was interesting. There are lots of nursery rhymes to choose from, and they all have simple stories in them. However, they would take a long time to make and it didn't really appeal to me because it is aimed at toddlers. I finally decided to do the film. I love comedy films and have seen hundreds of them, so I thought this would be helpful. I did think that this might take a long time, and I did spend extra time on it, but it was worth it as the film was funny.
3. Evaluate your pre production.
My pre production planning involved doing lots of notes on target audience, character outlines, movement and images for backgrounds. I did practice films which were not very good, but helped me develop the final production. I did a storyboard and focussed on shot variation; how I was going to make the film look realistic, make the characters flow and look in proportion. The practice and note-taking helped me get the final production just right.
4. Evaluate your production process.
I didn't manage my time very well for this project. I found making the actual final animation very challenging. I had to have help from adults and had to do extra sessions after school to complete my work. I chose storyboard to do my animation, which meant I had to work to a story and follow the storyline. This took up a lot of time. I had to make the set, with images and a box. This was easy and enjoyable but it took time to find the right images. My technical skills are good, and I did a lot of the photography myself. I did need help with the camera settings, but mostly did this alone. I worked alone on this project. The thing that took the most time was sorting the pictures into order in Istop motion. I had to then put it into Imovie, which also took time. Adding the music and voices was good, but took time. I needed help with this because I needed a man's deep voice. I added the music in Garage Band.
5. Evaluate your Final Animation Product:
My animation is good because the characters and the music fit to my intentions. I aimed it at teenagers and also fans of mission impossible 4. I got it right because the students i showed it to who were all teenagers found it very amusing. It is not as fluid as i would have liked it to be. I think the audience new what the characters are doing. I tried to make it obvious how they are feeling by their positions and their movements. I should have took more pictures so that i had more scenes to add. The music worked well with the animation. The features of my animation i liked the best were the voice over and the music because i thought it flowed well and it worked well with the animation. The audience liked my animation. I feel good about my animation work because i done the my animation about a prison escape. I thought that i needed to make the music go on for longer. the people who saw my animation said it was good and the story line fitted with my characters and my voice over and the music worked well with the different backgrounds . The bad thing they said was it needed to be longer and the music had to be longer as well and they said that the backgrounds did not work well with the animation and they did not like my characters at all and they said they have never seen or watched animation at all.
Shots - Close Up : I used a close up shot on the prisoners faec to shows that the prisoners is fed up being in prision.
also i did a long shot of the prisoner and the guard talking to each other about his family. i did a voice over of the guard which was ms Shackley and me. used the soundtrack of mission impossible because it created tense and excitement.
